For whom?
Contents
If you have headphones that have some character of their own, then the match with the HA-L7A may be very good. A planar headphone that is already neutral in itself will sound even more neutral on these Yamaha, we expect. For example, a Meze Empyrean could be an interesting match because the Yamaha can add something here with its low noise floor, precision and neutral signature.
If you have nice active speakers we expect the HA-L7A to be able to handle these quite nicely. Connect these with balanced cables and you have a compact audio system that allows you to enjoy personal audio as well as your (active) speaker system.
Alternatives
The Violectric HA590 is comparable in price. A pro audio product, dynamic in sound.
The Naim Uniti Atom Headphone Edition, tested by colleague Geoffrey, is also an interesting option in about the same price range. Expect the Naim-signature. If that is your cup of tea, you are ready to go.
