The Teufel ULTIMA speaker series has received an update, while staying true to the formula that made it a success, according to the manufacturer.
No other product has been part of Teufel’s lineup for as long as the passive speakers from the ULTIMA series. “These have quickly won over the hearts and ears of Teufel fans. The copper-colored midrange driver has become an unmistakable trademark,” says the company. Now, Teufel has carefully modernized all passive speakers in the ULTIMA series, including the ULTIMA 40, ULTIMA 20, and the ULTIMA center speaker.
Sustainable Design
“It is both a special challenge and a great honor to update a classic like the ULTIMA,” says Erik Habermann, senior product designer at Teufel. While each individual change may seem small, the Berlin-based company claims that all the modifications together result in a fresh and modern new look. New details include a redesigned base, a cabinet with rounded lower edges, four visible screws on the tweeter instead of the previous eight, and the removal of the “Ultima” lettering on top of the speaker. The included speaker grilles have also been completely redesigned.
The white ULTIMA speakers received the most significant makeover. Previously, only the speaker body was white, but now the front and base are also finished in white. Additionally, the grilles are now light gray instead of black.

Teufel promises that the ULTIMA series is “extremely versatile and perfect as a stereo setup for music or as a sound system for home theaters.” Each ULTIMA 40 SURROUND “5.1” set includes two ULTIMA 40 floor-standing speakers, two ULTIMA 20 bookshelf speakers, the ULTIMA center speaker—which ensures crystal-clear dialogue—and the T 10 active subwoofer, which delivers deep bass. The complete set of five passive speakers and a powerful active subwoofer remains available for just under €1,000.
