The HMD Amped Buds offer an interesting option for those who want to use their in-ear headphones and smartphone off-grid for an extended period.
Hailing from Finland, the HMD Amped Buds are, at first glance, standard wireless in-ear headphones. They come equipped with active noise cancellation (ANC) and 10mm drivers, designed for minimal distortion and high clarity. Additionally, a triple-microphone array is included, which the manufacturer claims ensures crystal-clear, noise-free calls.
A Powerful Charging Case
But what sets the HMD Amped Buds apart from other in-ears? The charging case features a built-in 1600 mAh battery. If used solely for charging the earbuds, it provides up to 95 hours of total playtime. However, the case can also serve as a power bank for your phone, allowing you to stay unplugged for an entire day or more. This makes it an ideal companion for long train or plane journeys, ensuring uninterrupted music playback or movie watching.
A Connection to Nokia
The name HMD might sound familiar—and for good reason. This is the company that revived the Nokia brand after its struggles under Microsoft. In 2015 and 2016, HMD Global launched the first Android-based Nokia smartphones, as well as feature phones. Today, they also release devices under their own HMD brand, including smartphones, tablets, and accessories such as these new in-ear headphones, phone cases, and chargers.
The HMD Amped Buds will be priced at €200, though the exact release date remains unknown—but it’s expected to be soon.
